The Doors of Perception series is about looking deeper and seeing interconnectedness of the natural world. With these pieces, the ocean and sky are seen through the wood grain, suggesting the notion that when we look deeply, we can see the water within the wood. For a tree to grow, it takes water, and clouds are another form of water as well. To quote William Blake: “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.”
