Devil In The Chocolate City

Jason was commissioned by Dark Matter Coffee to create this permanent, site-specific installation for their new cafe called Osmium. Completed Summer 2013.

Details
This installation inside Osmium Coffee Bar consists of 6 paintings on canvas, each 5 x 5 feet and "framed" with real velvet, along with surrounding wall mural art and some integrated objects. Jason also created custom murals that are installed in the exterior entryway to the shop. The installation's title Devil In The Chocolate City alludes to both Dark Matter Coffee's "Chocolate City" brand iced coffee as well as the book Devil In the White City, which is about events taking place in Chicago surrounding the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 (also known as "The White City"). The canvases all feature a unifying White City-inspired skyline, with the horizon lining up across all 6 canvases.
